There is no doubt that India is the world’s largest producer of films, due in part to the fact that it has one of the oldest film industries in the world. Importance of film production companies in the industry One of the most admired and memorable films in Hindi cinema was created by Raj Kapoor, the son of Prithviraj Kapoor. Raj Kapoor, Bimal Roy, and Guru Dutt are among the personalities associated with the next noteworthy phase of Hindi cinema. Indian cinema began to grow and develop in the early 1930s, thanks to a number of other film-makers working in several Indian languages. The middle class has only recently begun to question the association between acting and the loss of virtue, modesty, and respectability. In those days, it was really hard to find someone to portray female roles. Its director, Dadasaheb Phalke, had been honoured by the film industry with a life-time achievement award. Canada is home to the world's first state-founded film organization (the Ontario Motion Picture Bureau) and first national film production unit (the Canadian Government Motion Picture Bureau), both established over a century ago. But the country has tradition on its side. Meanwhile, in 2021, the global box office revenue added up to more than half of the revenue reported two years earlier, suggesting a swifter recovery than Canada's. While this represents a sharp increase compared to the previous year, it still remains below the result recorded in 2019. In 2022, Canada's box office revenue added up to 674 million Canadian dollars. However, the northernmost country in the Americas is struggling to overcome the deep impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. Canada and the United States form a key region in the worldwide cinema sector – the North American film market.
